As with any travel to a new exotic location, you should check in with your doctor to make sure you are up to date with your injections. Medications are widely available here but if you need something specific you’d do well to make sure you’ve stocked up in advance. Make sure you have adequate health and travel insurance for the duration of your trip.
Routine vaccines
Make sure you are up-to-date on routine vaccines before every trip. These vaccines include measles-mumps-rubella (MMR) vaccine, diphtheria-tetanus-pertussis vaccine, varicella (chickenpox) vaccine, polio vaccine, and your yearly flu shot.

You can get hepatitis A through contaminated food or water in Indonesia, regardless of where you are eating or staying.
Typhoid
It’s relatively rare but you can get typhoid through contaminated food or water in Indonesia so make sure your typhoid vaccine is up to date.
Mosquito protection
There is no Malaria on Bali, however mosquitoes do present another risk: Dengue Fever. The best course of action is prevention: use insect repellent and wear light colored clothing wherever possible to keep the blighters at bay.
You can easily buy mosquito repellant in Ubud.
In addition, make sure the accommodation you are considering to stay at has a mosquito net for the bed.
Medical clinics in Bali
In the case of minor illnesses or injuries, there are several international medical clinics that cater to tourists in the local Ubud area and closer to the airport. These clinics typically do not accept insurance (though you may be reimbursed through your insurance provider), and they are relatively inexpensive. If a situation requires more urgent care, there are larger hospitals in the south of Bali, and in the need of a most extreme and unlikely medical emergency situation, patients would be evacuated to Singapore. Due to significant costs of evacuation care, it’s advisable to check if this coverage is included on your medical plan.
